MABE Responds to MACo on MOE

In a recent online article, the Maryland Association of Counties (MACo) claims that the current economic climate undermines the entire education funding system. We agree, but not on the best response. MABE is calling for a set of clear, concise amendments to put in place reasonable measures to make sure counties do their best to hold the line on local funding, which totals $5.3 billion! The change in the law that we are being asked to ignore made it even clearer that counties can cut $2.6 billion of that without a waiver.

Click here to see why MABE is calling for maintenance of effort reforms – and we are urging you to call your legislators to ask for their support.
