PERIL INSPECTIONS

As a service to its members, MABE manages an annual inspection program of school owned facilities. The purpose of this program is to identify hazards associated with a specific facility that may increase the potential for a loss to occur, provide corrective recommendations, and track any changes made as a result.

A random sample of facilities are selected each year in rough proportion to the percentage of facilities occupied by the school board. Locations are selected from both the members of the Group Insurance Pool and the Workers Compensation Fund.

As a result of the physical survey, a consistent process is completed and communicated to the primary contact electronically. A score is also developed that can be used to compare the facility against others in the same system or other similar types of facilities.

If you have an interest in reviewing the information specific to your county, or in an evaluation of your internal self-inspection program and how they may complement one another, please contact either of the MABE Risk Management Officers. Information on developing a self inspection program can be found under "Safety Topics".
