Congratulations to Karin M. Bailey of St. Mary’s County for having been named President of MABE on October 8th during MABE Annual Conference 2024. She currently chairs the St. Mary’s County Public Schools Board of Education, and brings to the table a noteworthy commitment to quality public education in Maryland.
Bailey’s lengthy association with MABE includes having served on the Annapolis-based association’s Board of Directors, as Treasurer, and as President-Elect. She has been active with MABE’s Federal Advocacy, Legislative, and Conference Program Committees. Bailey also currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Calvert Marine Museum, and the Baltimore-Washington, DC Clemson Club. Her background includes extensive corporate finance, ethics compliance, business risk assessments, and financial audit work.
Also sworn in during MABE Annual Conference 2024 were the association’s newly elected officers and Board of Directors. MABE President-Elect for the coming year is Shebra Evans (Montgomery County); the association’s new Treasurer is Cecil County’s Diana Hawley; and its new Secretary is Charles County’s Michael K. Lukas. In addition to MABE’s officers, the organization’s incoming Board of Directors is comprised of 12 board members from 11 Maryland counties and Baltimore City.
Chief among the focus areas of the incoming board, and of MABE member school systems as a whole, will be ongoing implementation of the Blueprint for Maryland’s Future, landmark legislation to enhance and improve state and local investment in – and school system operation of – Maryland’s public education system.
Sincere congratulations to MABE President Karin Bailey for her recent leadership appointment, and to MABE’s incoming Board of Directors!
