Following the horrific events at Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, a series of student protest walkouts have been planned by numerous groups. While many of you are no doubt fully prepared for the issues that arise at such events, MABE has been requested to share some basic information about the student walkout events and to provide access to a National School Board Association (NSBA) publication entitled, Navigating Student Walkouts & Mass Protests. This publication contains a checklist of things for schools to think about in such an event along with a series of scenarios to assist with planning an appropriate school response.
